SALT,LIGHT AND GRACE

Pastor is leading us in how to become that City on a Hill. We live in a rural community. Our church building sits on a high spot. While not the highest spot in the county, it is outside of the largest village, our county seat. This week, we listened to Salt and Light.
NaCl, sodium and chloride, the chemical representation of salt, as we know it setting on our dinner table. K+Cl is a potassium chloride, commonly know as salt substitute. Potassium is a necessary chemical in heart function. Too much or too little can alter the function of our cardiac system.

Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt looses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot. (BibleGateway) is a good resource for looking up scripture).

When we mix our worldly focus with our faith in Christ, we loose our saltiness. With it goes our effective witness. The important thing here is even when we have 'cut' the salt of our witness, the Grace of our Savior is able to help us overcome the ingredients that caused that to happen. In the Second book of Corinthians, chapter 12, Paul talks about boasting. It is an interesting read. One I have pondered many times. This morning, I read it in a new light, receiving a new message from the Word.  But that  may be for another post.

Today, I pray for all that read this post, you will be on the path to purify the salt of the Lord within your life. Simply asking Him to come into your life, that you might be salt and light for the Kingdom of God.

Blessings, and thanks for stopping by.

  1. Robyn, just found your blog from the link on Shaz's, You are just so open with your faith, it is a wonderful encouragement. I too love the passage about salt and light and find it very hard in today's world to be a light for the Lord and to be salt in my community, I know I fail again and again but am forgiven and loved nevertheless.
