Humility

As a home schooled freshman, Sammy connects with fellow students once a week with 'Independent Studies' thru our Christian School. It is a stretch for him.  He and I have always had a close and daily relationship. It is easy to know what is on his mind when he is wanting something,  but sometimes difficult for him to share. We are like that with our relationship with our Heavenly Father. He knows our heart, yet we are reluctant to recognize His desire for our lives.

Varsity Letter as a freshman!! Sammy is a bowler......

Our toddling son slept in the corner at the bowling center, as we participated in a Christian Bowling League. Fast forward a few years, Sammy started  (organized) bowling at age 5 or 6. Add another 8 years and now, Sporting Gilead Christian on the back of his shirt, he participated in his first organized school sport. Most of the other bowlers on both the boy's and girl's teams have less experience with the sport. While participating in the end of season tournaments, both teams did a great job and gave their all for the team.  There are only a limited number of teams that advance to the next level at the sectional. After team advancement, there is an opportunity for individuals to move on.  The emotion that flooded me when Sammy made the cut, is indescribable with mere words.  Two weeks later, it still wells up inside when I think of it. (At the district, he did well, but did not advance to the state level.  Perhaps another year. He advanced beyond what others have tried to do all through high school.)

Our Lord must feel the same pride when we succeed in the business of sharing about His love with others. As we walk each day, we should strive to remember that life is about bringing glory to the Father. Not about a personal success, measured by the standards of this world.

Go forth and keep your eyes on Jesus!
